London, Sep - 2026 — A year ago, "prompt engineering" was the AI skill every corporate L&D team wanted on its training calendar. In 2026, the conversation inside boardrooms and IT departments has moved on. The question is no longer "how do we get our teams using ChatGPT?" — it's "how do we build, deploy and govern AI agents that can actually complete work on their own?"
That shift — from generative AI as a writing assistant to agentic AI as an autonomous colleague — is reshaping corporate training budgets across the UK. And nowhere is that shift more visible than at JBI Training, the London-based technology and AI training provider that has spent three decades training developers, data teams and business leaders at organisations including the BBC, HSBC, Cisco, NHS, RBS and Sky.

This is the course technical teams keep coming back to. Over two hands-on days, developers build a production-shaped agentic AI system from the ground up — a tool-using agent loop with memory, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for grounding responses in real company data, and an MCP (Model Context/Control Protocol) tool server, evolving into a multi-agent workflow by the end of the course. MCP — introduced by Anthropic as a standard for connecting AI models to external tools and data sources — has become one of the fastest-moving areas of enterprise AI adoption in 2026, and this course sits squarely at the centre of that trend.
JBI's most comprehensive agent-development course, and the one most frequently requested by organisations building genuine production capability rather than proof-of-concept demos. Over three days, delegates move from Python foundations through to production-ready multi-agent systems — covering architecture design, RAG pipeline construction, and the deployment and scaling considerations that separate a working prototype from something a business can actually run. It's a direct response to what one JBI blog article, published earlier this year, called the gap between "what it actually takes to build a production AI agent" and the demos most organisations start with.
Not every organisation needs to build custom agents from scratch — many already have the tools sitting inside their existing Microsoft 365 licences and simply aren't using them properly. This advanced course, covering complex automation, scripting and enterprise deployment of Microsoft Copilot, has become one of JBI's most consistently booked courses as Microsoft 365 Copilot adoption has scaled sharply across UK enterprise — global paid enterprise seats have grown well into the millions over the past year, with well over 100% year-on-year seat growth reported industry-wide. One delegate, an IT Operations Manager at a UK financial services organisation, described JBI's Copilot training as "practical from start to finish, using real business scenarios," with the team "applying techniques within days."
As agentic AI moves from pilot to production, security teams have become some of the most engaged participants in JBI's AI training programmes. This course — covering how to identify and mitigate prompt injection, data leakage and model poisoning through live practical exercises — has seen a marked rise in bookings from organisations that have realised AI security is not the same discipline as traditional application security. It sits alongside a broader cluster of governance-focused courses, including AI Governance Tooling and Testing and Evaluating AI Outputs, that reflect a maturing corporate mindset: organisations that spent 2024 and 2025 experimenting with AI are now, in 2026, being asked by their own boards and compliance functions to prove that experimentation was done safely.
Perhaps the clearest signal of where developer training is heading. Rather than teaching AI as a tool developers occasionally reach for, this course treats agentic coding assistants as a core part of the modern development workflow — training engineers to work effectively alongside autonomous coding agents that can plan, write, test and iterate on code with far less step-by-step supervision than earlier-generation AI coding tools required. A companion course, Agentic Coding with GitHub Copilot, covers the same territory for teams standardised on Microsoft's tooling. Together, these two courses represent one of the fastest-growing segments of JBI's entire catalogue — a direct reflection of how quickly agentic tools have moved from novelty to default expectation inside professional software teams.
Three forces are converging to push agentic AI training up the corporate priority list.
First, the technology has genuinely matured. Tools like LangGraph — which added durable-state capabilities that make production-grade agent workflows far more reliable — and the standardisation of MCP as a way to connect AI models to enterprise tools have removed much of the fragility that made agentic AI a research curiosity rather than a deployable technology just two years ago.
Second, the UK's broader tech skills gap has made structured training more valuable, not less. More than seven in ten UK businesses report difficulty finding candidates with the technical skills they need, according to recent industry research — a gap that makes upskilling existing staff, rather than relying solely on external hiring, an increasingly central part of corporate technology strategy.
Third, governance pressure is rising in parallel with capability. As agentic systems move from experimentation into live production environments handling real customer data and real business processes, regulatory frameworks — including the EU AI Act — and internal compliance functions are demanding evidence that AI deployment is being managed responsibly, not just enthusiastically.
What's notable about the current wave of demand isn't just its volume — it's its breadth. JBI Training reports growing interest not only from software developers and data scientists, but from business analysts, operational engineers, project managers and senior leaders who need to understand agentic AI well enough to redesign workflows, write system specifications, and make sound build-versus-buy decisions, without necessarily writing a line of code themselves.

Agentic AI in 2026 isn't a developer tool anymore — it's an organisational capability, and UK corporates are increasingly treating it that way, investing in training that spans the full spectrum from hands-on technical build skills to the governance, security and leadership capabilities needed to deploy that technology responsibly at scale.
For organisations still treating AI training as a one-off workshop rather than an ongoing capability-building programme, the message from the current wave of corporate bookings is clear: the gap between "we tried ChatGPT" and "we run production AI agents safely" is where competitive advantage is being built right now — and it's a gap that structured, hands-on training is proving essential to closing.
