Day 2 focuses on integrating agents with real systems and making them truly useful in practical environments. You’ll learn how to connect to data sources, automate workflows, and design conversations with logic, conditions, and branching.

The course dives into orchestration and autonomous agent behaviour, helping you build agents that can plan and execute multi-step tasks. You’ll also explore evaluation techniques to test, improve, and ensure reliability.

Through hands-on labs, you’ll build and refine a fully functional, data-connected agent ready for real-world use.

Yes. Copilot Studio is an actively evolving platform and this course is continuously updated to reflect the latest Microsoft releases, including updates to generative orchestration, AI Builder integration, autonomous agent behaviours, new connector capabilities, and the deepening relationship between Copilot Studio and the broader Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Delegates learn skills that reflect how Copilot Studio is being used in organisations right now.
This is a two-day, instructor-led training course that teaches participants how to design, build, and deploy intelligent AI agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio. Over two days, participants build real agents from the ground up — starting with conversational design fundamentals and progressing through generative AI grounding, Power Automate integration, orchestration, evaluation, and governance. The course is hands-on throughout, with lab exercises that produce working agents by the end of each day.
Microsoft Copilot Studio is a low-code development platform from Microsoft that enables organisations to build custom AI agents, conversational assistants, and automated workflows. It allows business users and developers to create agents grounded in enterprise data — from SharePoint documents and Dataverse records to SQL databases and external APIs — and deploy them across Microsoft Teams, websites, and other channels. It is part of the Microsoft Power Platform and integrates closely with Power Automate, Microsoft 365, and Azure AI services.
Microsoft Copilot is an AI productivity assistant built into Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. It helps individual users work more efficiently within those tools. Microsoft Copilot Studio is a development platform used to build custom AI agents tailored to specific organisational needs — for example, a HR policy assistant, a service request agent, or a knowledge base chatbot grounded in internal documents. Copilot Studio gives organisations control over the agent's behaviour, data sources, conversation design, and deployment channels.
Day 1 covers the core foundations of Copilot Studio. Participants learn the platform interface, create their first agent, and work through the key building blocks: topics, triggers, entities, and variables. The day covers multi-turn conversation design, how to ground an agent in enterprise data using SharePoint, files, websites, and Dataverse, and introduces generative orchestration — how Copilot Studio plans and executes tasks autonomously. Hands-on labs include building a FAQ agent grounded in internal documents and designing and testing a complete conversation flow.
Day 2 focuses on integrations, advanced logic, orchestration, and evaluation. Participants learn how to connect agents to real data sources — including Power Automate flows, SharePoint lists, SQL databases, and external APIs — and how to implement branching logic, conditions, entity extraction, and error handling. The day covers generative orchestration in depth, including autonomous agent behaviours and goal-driven multi-step reasoning. Delegates also learn how to evaluate agent performance using test datasets and conversation analytics, and how to apply governance and responsible AI guardrails before deployment.
Generative orchestration is Copilot Studio's capability to allow an AI agent to plan and sequence actions autonomously in order to complete a goal, rather than following a fixed, pre-scripted conversation path. Instead of the agent always following a rigid topic flow, generative orchestration enables the agent to reason about what the user needs, decide which topics or actions to invoke, and complete multi-step tasks without requiring a developer to hard-code every possible path. This makes agents more flexible and capable of handling complex, open-ended queries across enterprise scenarios.
The course is suitable for business analysts and process owners who want to build intelligent agents to automate workflows and answer organisational queries; developers and technical users who need to integrate agents with APIs, databases, and enterprise systems; Power Platform users who want to extend their Copilot and Power Automate skills; solution architects designing scalable AI-driven solutions; and teams responsible for deploying, evaluating, and governing conversational AI systems within a Microsoft environment.
No. Copilot Studio is a low-code platform and this course does not require software development experience. The course is designed to be accessible to business analysts, process owners, and Power Platform users as well as developers. Some technical topics on Day 2 — such as connecting to APIs and SQL data sources — benefit from a general understanding of how APIs and databases work, but hands-on coding is not required.
Yes. The course can be delivered as a customised closed-group programme for corporate teams, onsite at your organisation's premises or online. Content and lab exercises can be tailored to your organisation's Microsoft 365 environment, existing data sources, specific use cases, and the types of agents your team wants to build. JBI has delivered Microsoft AI and Power Platform training for corporate clients including the NHS, BBC, RBS, Sky, and Capita.
Microsoft Copilot Studio requires a Copilot Studio licence, which is available as a standalone subscription or as part of certain Microsoft 365 and Power Platform plans. Some features — such as generative AI with Bing grounding and certain connectors — may require additional licence entitlements. JBI recommends delegates confirm their organisation's current Microsoft licensing before attending, and the course covers the deployment and licensing considerations relevant to each capability taught.
