This Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) training course lets delegates get to grips with a key part of the Microsoft BI stack. The course covers the discovery and preparation of data, the modelling of the data, and the presentation of the data in insightful and attractive reports and dashboards.

We spend two days looking at Reporting Services (SSRS) and other visualisation tools such as Power BI, and when you return to your office you will easily be able to create powerful and informative reports and dashboards.

All the work you do is saved and you can take it with you for future reference.

JBI Training offers five courses in this group covering the Microsoft SQL Server BI stack and Oracle Business Intelligence. Available courses are Microsoft Business Intelligence 2016 (five days), SQL Server Analysis and Integration Services — SSAS and SSIS (three days), SQL Server Reporting Services — SSRS (two days), Oracle OBIEE (four days), and Cube Design (two days). All courses are available as scheduled classroom sessions in London, as live online instructor-led training, or as customised onsite programmes for BI and data teams.
The Microsoft Business Intelligence 2016 course is a comprehensive five-day programme covering the full Microsoft SQL Server BI stack. It covers SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data extraction, transformation, and loading; SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) for building multidimensional and tabular data models; SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for creating and distributing reports; and DAX and MDX for analytical querying. It is suited to BI developers, data warehouse developers, and reporting professionals who need a thorough end-to-end understanding of the Microsoft BI platform for building enterprise reporting and analytics solutions on SQL Server.
SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) is Microsoft's online analytical processing (OLAP) and data mining engine, used to build multidimensional cubes and tabular data models that serve as the analytical layer for business intelligence solutions. SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is Microsoft's ETL tool for extracting, transforming, and loading data from source systems into data warehouses and analytical models. JBI's three-day SQL Server Analysis and Integration Services course covers both components — SSIS pipeline design, transformations, and deployment, alongside SSAS multidimensional and tabular model design, MDX querying, and KPI and calculation development. It is suited to BI developers and data warehouse engineers working within the Microsoft SQL Server ecosystem.
The two-day SQL Server Reporting Services course covers Microsoft's enterprise reporting platform for creating, managing, and distributing structured reports from SQL Server and other data sources. Topics include the Report Designer and Report Builder environments, creating tabular and matrix reports, working with parameters and filters, using expressions for dynamic report content, embedding charts and data visualisations within reports, creating drillthrough and linked reports, scheduling and subscription-based report delivery, and deploying and managing reports on the SSRS Report Server. It is suited to report developers, BI developers, and business analysts who need to build and manage enterprise reports within a Microsoft SQL Server environment.
Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) is Oracle's enterprise business intelligence platform for building interactive dashboards, ad hoc queries, and analytical reports from Oracle and other data sources. It uses a three-tier architecture consisting of the Oracle BI Repository (which defines the business model and data mappings), the Oracle BI Server (which handles query processing and caching), and the Oracle BI Presentation Services (which delivers interactive reports and dashboards to users). JBI's four-day Oracle OBIEE course covers the full OBIEE development workflow — including building the physical, business model, and presentation layers of the repository, creating answers and dashboards, working with prompts and filters, and building KPIs and scorecards. It is suited to BI developers and report authors working in Oracle-based environments.
A data cube (also known as an OLAP cube) is a multidimensional data structure that organises data along multiple dimensions — such as time, geography, product, and department — enabling fast, flexible analytical queries and aggregations across large datasets. It is a foundational concept in business intelligence and data warehousing. JBI's two-day Cube Design course covers the principles of multidimensional modelling, dimension and measure design, hierarchy design, the role of cubes in a BI architecture, and practical cube design considerations for performance and usability. It is suited to BI architects, data warehouse developers, and senior analysts who design or work with multidimensional analytical models.
The traditional Microsoft BI stack — consisting of SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS running on SQL Server — has been the backbone of enterprise Microsoft reporting and analytics for many organisations for over two decades. Power BI, which was introduced later, uses many of the same underlying technologies — particularly the SSAS Tabular engine for its data model and DAX for calculations — but delivers them through a modern, cloud-friendly, self-service interface. Microsoft Fabric represents the next evolution of the Microsoft data platform, bringing together data engineering, warehousing, and analytics in a unified SaaS environment. Organisations with existing SQL Server BI investments are not required to migrate immediately, but understanding both the traditional stack and the modern Microsoft data platform helps teams make informed architectural decisions about where to invest and how to evolve their reporting infrastructure over time.
