This group brings together JBI Training's SQL Server and T-SQL courses — covering the full range of skills needed by developers, DBAs, and data professionals working with Microsoft SQL Server. Courses span SQL fundamentals, T-SQL programming, Transact-SQL Server development, SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and the full Microsoft BI stack with SQL Server 2016.

Whether you are writing queries, building stored procedures, administering a SQL Server environment, or optimising database performance, JBI offers focused, instructor-led training at the right level. All courses are available as classroom sessions in London, live online, or as customised onsite programmes for database and development teams.

JBI Training offers six courses in this group. SQL is a two-day introduction to structured query language and database design. T-SQL is a three-day course covering Transact-SQL programming for SQL Server developers. Transact-SQL Server Programming is a two-day focused programme for writing stored procedures, functions, and triggers. SQL Server Administration is a five-day comprehensive DBA course. SQL Server Performance Tuning is a two-day course for optimising SQL Server query and database performance. Microsoft Business Intelligence 2016 is a five-day course covering the full SQL Server BI stack — SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS. All are available in London, online, or as customised onsite programmes.
T-SQL (Transact-SQL) is Microsoft's proprietary extension to SQL used for programming within SQL Server. It adds procedural programming capabilities to standard SQL — including variables, control flow, error handling, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and cursors — enabling developers to write complex server-side logic that runs directly within the database. JBI's three-day T-SQL course covers T-SQL syntax and programming constructs, writing and optimising queries, creating stored procedures and user-defined functions, implementing triggers, handling errors, and applying T-SQL best practices for maintainable and performant database code. It is suited to developers and database programmers working with SQL Server.
The five-day SQL Server Administration course is a comprehensive programme for DBAs responsible for deploying and managing Microsoft SQL Server environments. It covers SQL Server architecture and installation, managing databases, tables, and schemas, configuring security and user access, backup and recovery strategies, SQL Server Agent for job scheduling and automation, monitoring SQL Server health and performance using built-in tools, high availability options including Always On Availability Groups and mirroring, and patching and maintenance best practices. It is suited to SQL Server DBAs, IT administrators, and infrastructure professionals who manage SQL Server in production environments.
The two-day SQL Server Performance Tuning course covers the tools and techniques for diagnosing and resolving performance problems in SQL Server. Topics include understanding SQL Server's query execution engine and query plans, using SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, and DMVs (Dynamic Management Views) to identify bottlenecks, optimising T-SQL queries for better execution plans, index design and maintenance strategies, statistics management, memory and I/O configuration tuning, and identifying and resolving blocking and deadlocking issues. It is suited to SQL Server DBAs, senior developers, and anyone responsible for the performance of SQL Server-based applications.
Microsoft SQL Server is the on-premises database engine that has been the foundation of Microsoft's data platform for decades. Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance are cloud-based services that use the same SQL Server engine, making existing SQL Server skills directly transferable to the cloud. Microsoft Fabric — Microsoft's latest unified analytics platform — includes a SQL-based data warehouse component that also uses T-SQL as its query language, meaning SQL Server and T-SQL skills remain highly relevant as organisations move toward cloud-native and Fabric-based data architectures. JBI's SQL Server training provides a strong foundation that applies across both on-premises and cloud Microsoft data environments.
Yes. All SQL Server courses can be delivered as customised onsite or online programmes for corporate database, development, and IT teams. Content can be tailored to the organisation's SQL Server version, specific administration challenges, application environment, and learning objectives. For example, a development team can receive integrated SQL and T-SQL training using their own schema and queries as the basis for exercises, while a DBA team can receive administration and performance tuning training focused on their specific SQL Server environment and operational challenges. JBI has delivered SQL Server training for teams at organisations including the BBC, NHS, RBS, Sky, EDF, and Cisco.
