UK County Council Staff are taught how to Automate

The Approach

We were approached to supply a customised training course for staff at a UK County council.

After an initial consultation with the client, it was determined that council staff would be placed on our tailor-made course in Microsoft Forms and Power Automate.

The Objective

Councils are heavily focused on increasing operational efficiencies to deliver higher-quality services to residents. The council was keen for staff to be trained in Microsoft 365 tools which would allow them to start streamlining data collection and processing.

The objective was to move staff away from working with information in incoming emails which would need to be manually imported into systems, a time-consuming process that is prone to error. The council wanted to teach staff how to automate processes that would allow the information in Microsoft Forms from partner organisations or residents, to be automatically entered and ultimately displayed on a Power BI dashboard.

Staff would need to be trained in how to create systems and  easily alter or adapt them as necessary when changes were needed

A Low Code Solution

Power Automate (formerly known as Microsoft Flow) is perfect for low code solutions.

In the past you would need to hire a web or app developer to build a website, app, or user interface. Low code programs, such as Power Automate, have removed the technical barrier that would have needed to have be actioned by an expert in the past.

These applications have provided low code solutions utilising drag-and-drop interfaces and so allowing the savvy business user to build customisable systems.

The Class

The class run by JBI Training taught staff about Microsoft Forms and how Power Automate can process the forms coming in. The information in these forms can be entered automatically into the system and displayed effectively for better decision making.

Being able to immediately log data as it comes in and immediately notify the right people can save enormous amounts of time as well as removing boring repetitive tasks! But additionally and perhaps more importantly it could address issues and raise flags allowing steps to be taken immediately to quickly solve and action a problem.
