Blazor Training Course

Leading UK manufacturing company uses Blazor for new Web application

One of Britain’s leading manufacturing companies requested the help of JBI to run a Blazor training course for their systems development team following a decision to build their web application using the platform.

The manufacturing company required training to build a virtual emulator to launch their new products, which involves an immersive and interactive application that allows users to offer shows, presentations and virtual experiences of the product. Blazor is perfect for this application because it is built upon WebAssembly, which has significant vendor buy-in, universal browser support and better performance than JavaScript engines. Blazor is also used by web app developers because it allows the creation of single page applications using C# and .NET limiting the need to use JavaScript but has JavaScript interoperability so can use their functions. Blazor WebAssembly can run with near-native performance because it utilises higher-level programming languages and it does not require a server, which means that maintenance costs are reduced and architecture is simplified. Blazor is also an open-source code and has got a fast growing community which is able to provide assistance to the developers if they run into trouble building their web application.

In consultation with the manufacturing company and the instructor, JBI curated an intensive three day course that had been tailored to the demands of the company to provide better engagement from the delegates. This was condensed from the regular five day public courses for the benefit of the company. In order to ensure that the material had been understood sufficiently, several learning objectives were put in place:

  • Introduce Blazor and explore the features that make it useful for this project, such as templating
  • Create a simple web application to demonstrate how to build the project
  • Gain an understanding of the Model view Controller and the entity framework core
  • Utilise Bootstrap to provide responsive user interface

JBI delivered the course virtually using Zoom to 5 delegates and at the end of the course feedback was returned to JBI detailing the positive experience the delegates had:

“I liked the use and explanation of components. The templating and callbacks I found particularly useful. I liked the way the course was setup. Lots of practical exercises.” CL, senior .NET developer

“The instructor was expert in his knowledge and delivery. I really enjoyed being taught by him and his examples were very good at demonstrating the theory” RT, Systems developer

Here is a short video of an exercise, as it would be seen on JBI's Blazor training course
